At Bluemoon Graphix, we want to ensure the quality of the products we supply. Clients often ask us the banner lifespan, how long their flying banner will last. It’s a good question. An answer could be “How long is a piece of string?” It does depend on factors such as location, weather, how often they are brought inside, how often you wash the fabric etc etc.
But we wanted a more definitive answer of fabric banner lifespan for ourselves! We wanted to be able to inform, with first hand knowledge.
For 370 days we conducted a banner lifespan trial on our new Flying Banner to have our own proof of longevity after extreme usage… Why not 365? … well… we forgot and left it out longer!

250gsm stock is our recommend stock for printing DL flyers… not only do you get this great value in printing but also it looks a premium product, this weight is close to most business cards you see, so it is a nice sturdy weight. Dark colours will not show through on the reverse meaning you can have a dark, solid colour on the front and still have a white background on the reverse. If you are using your printed DL flyers in a display stand, 250gsm thickness will not flop forward and curl at the edges in humidity etc. and so project a professional image for your display of printed flyers.

Spot UV Business cards
We specialise in printing Spot UV cards (sometimes called Matt Etched). This is where any area on your card (or Spot) is printed with a gloss varnish on a Matt Celloglazed card. This can enhance a logo or printed area or be a subtle print of a word, logo or pattern as a ‘watermark’ on the card. The Spot UV process gives a premium, professional enhancement to your card.

Lenticular Business Cards
These cards are quirky and won’t suit all businesses but do create that ‘wow’ factor. Ideal to illustrate ‘before’ and ‘after’ images or to have two alternate messages on your card. The flip effect is on the front only and the reverse of the card can either be blank or printed CMYK with your business details etc.

Our vinyl hanging banners come with metal eyelets already securely in place in each corner, READY TO HANG and are a sturdy outdoor grade 440gsm vinyl as standard.
These vinyl banners are lightweight and easy to roll up and carry around and are just the right size for use both indoors and outside. No cord is provided for hanging but we recommend using tie/zip wraps to secure tightly. We sell lots of these for market stall holders as they are a cheap alternative, look great and the print will last for years. We can print to any size (prices will vary) and one of our most requested size is the 3m wide x 300mm high to hang as the top valance/overhang from a marquee or market stall tent.

CMYK vs RGB vs Pantone artwork
I am often asked what the difference is between RGB and CMYK…
RGB is how your computer monitor displays the colours you see. Everything is made up of Red, Blue and Green in various strengths to make each colour that prints, including black.
If you are having your business cards, letterheads or posters printed digitally then what you get will be very similar to what you see on-screen as most digital machines use RGB printing.
However, some people do get a shock, a totally different look. That is because our computer monitors are not all calibrated the same, what I see on mine could be a lot different to the same colours on your screen. Also, monitors are back lit, the light comes through the colours enhancing them & making the colours more vibrant and bright than we can ever achieve on paper. A fluro green on your computer screen will print a dull green on paper.
CMYK is how professional Offset printing is performed. This is how magazines are printed and is how I will print your products (unless specified) The CMYK stands for: Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Key… so instead of how you see your colour on your monitor or from your office Laser Printer, made of Red, Blue & Green, we will print in 4 separate colours. Black can actually be made from the Cyan, Magenta and Yellow but an additional run of solid black ink is also used, and that is called the Key as it ‘locks in’ & enhances all the colour making it a sharper image.
Therefore, if you have set up artwork in RGB, it will have to be altered before being sent to press and the final colours printed may differ than those original intended. If you have any concerns over colour and especially colour matching, always discuss this with your Graphic Designer or Printer before committing to print. CMYK colours tend to be dull in comparison to the vibrant RGB colours you can see in Word etc. on-screen.
Pantone is a 5th colour when printing Offset printing, we can print the CMYK + a separate solid colour ink, a Pantone colour. It is a precise matching system, as all current Pantone books will display the same ink colour and it shouldn′t matter which printer, or which printing machine is used, the same colour will be printed time after time. Pantone colours are usually asked for when colour matching, say, for printing your colour onto a fabric banner, even though an actual Pantone ink will not be used, it is a good system for ensuring the printers will print the colour the designer expects.
However, it is unreliable to chose a Pantone Colour from your computer screen as what you see on your monitor will be RGB, only an approximation of the colour. It is always recommended to view the colour, or chose the Pantone from a current Pantone Colour Guide book. As all inks fade with time, and the paper degrades, it is not recommended to use an old Pantone book as that colour could have faded and so not print as you had envisaged.

Marine Grade outdoor vinyl stickers – digitally printed and up to 1.2m long – Ideal for outdoor use, Car Bumper stickers used for business advertising on your vehicle. These stickers have a standard outdoor life of approx. 2 years or we can print a Premium product which has a life of approx. 5 years. Vinyl labels are also perfect for wine or beer bottles or any product that need to be refrigerated or stored outdoors. We can digitally print your label or sticker meaning you do not need to order thousands at a time, we’ll print small quantities to suit you!
Electrostatic stickers -no glue, sticks via static charge. Ideal for temporary window displays. These can be used in the rear window of cars or utes, where you do not want a permanant advertisement… if it is your family car, you can easily remove an electrostatic sticker & only use when needed.
Smart Walling – A thin Polyester that is digitally printed with your custom image and is sticky on the reverse… leaves no sticky residue and can be moved easily on walls, glass etc. Ideal for moving displays, home wall art, interactive wall games… Only limited by your imagination! PVC stickers – die cut to your required size and shape. PVC or Vinyl labels and stickers are ideal for outdoor use or in environments where they will need to withstand wet.
Paper stickers – die cut to your required size and shape, either individual stickers or on sheets or rolls ready to peel off (dependent on stock and size) – Can have a Gloss finish. Paper stickers and labels are only suitable for indoor use.
“Frosted glass” – A sticker that gives the same appearance of frosted glass on your glass doors and windows. Can be supplied at large sizes and can be die-cut to custom shapes

Why pay a Graphic Designer when you can do it yourself?
Why would you pay a Graphic Designer when you can do it yourself?
Unless you have the proper design software & know a bit about what you are doing then I’d advise against trying it yourself and that’s not me just saying that so I get extra work. A Graphic Designer is trained and quick at what they do, so can save you lots of headaches of a do it yourself logo or brochure.
Imagine this, it is no different to painting or tiling your house, sure you can do it yourself if you really try, but a professional job not only looks better but it saves you lots of stress & mistakes. Plus the finished image it projects is different, you have the input of a professional who has xxx years experience and knows all the tricks of the trade.
The most important factor to consider, the majority of printers will not accept files from: Word, Powerpoint, Publisher, Paint. Artwork supplied from those software will usually incur charges for converting to something they can use, anything from $40 – $100 per hour. Also most printers will not check for errors and will print exactly as you provide… so if you have put some text too close to the edge, it will print like that and could be trimmed off. A professional Graphic Designer will proof read and asks the client to double check all details and ensure the artwork is accurate before any printing commences.
